School Safety


The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. Wayne Community Schools is committed to providing a safe, secure, and supportive learning environment. We work closely with local law enforcement and emergency services, and regularly review and update our safety procedures to ensure we are prepared and proactive.


 

  • Delays, cancellations, urgent alerts, and other notifications are communicated to parents through the use of ParentSquare. ParentSquare allows us to send calls, texts, or app notifications. Sign in to ParentSquare to adjust how and when you receive notifications. Note that urgent alerts will be sent immediately, even if you set other notifications to be once a day.   • Level I - External Lockdown

            1. No access in or out of the building is allowed except for extenuating circumstances

            2. All other activities are allowed or “as normal”

            3. Examples include a rabid animal outside or a bank robbery in the area

     

    Level II - Clear the Halls

            1. A need to lock interior doors does not exist

            2. Instruction should be carried out as normal

            3. No one is to leave the classroom

            4. Examples include a medical emergency or a drug dog present in the building

     

    Level III - Internal Threat (Intruder in the Building)

            1. Lock Interior Doors

            2. Get to the safest place possible

            3. Evacuate when possible

            4. Barricade doors and stay away from windows

            5. An example is an active shooter
